Having gout is bad enough, the pain from gout is something that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy but having no health insurance makes it even worse.

The costs to go see a Dr every time you get a swollen big toe joint and then add on the cost of any medication he may tell you to take and you are easily looking at a hundred dollars or more. While I can not tell you that I know some miracle home remedies or magic cure for gout that I know about but no one else does I can tell you a few things that you can and should be doing to help yourself.

Start doing things to prevent your next gout attack rather than waiting till you wake up in the middle of the night in excruciating pain and then wish you had taken more notice.

Before you start mixing up home remedies for gout you can start changing what you eat.

Cut Out Game Meat

Stop Eating Liver and Organ Meat

Drink More Water

Cut Down on Red Meat

Increasing your water intake will help your kidneys deal with the uric acid that you do take and since game, organs and red meat are all high in purines (which become uric acid) cutting those out of your diet will help your body deal with the uric acid that is one of the root causes of your gout.

I recently went for a check up at my Dr and he gave me the test results he said I have a elevated uric acid level. This means that uric acid is building up quicker than my kidneys can get rid of it.

I am a bit shocked as I thought this only happened to old people who drunk to much, I am only in my 30’s and I don’t drink at all. The other thing is that I don’t have any of the pain or swelling that is usually associated with gout.

I would rather make changes now before I have pain rather than later. So I am looking into not only foods that are low in purines (which is what results in uric acid when your body breaks it down) but also ones that will help remove the uric acid build up that I already have.

So far the only suggestion I have found is Cherry Juice to lower the uric acid and cut out red meat as that is high in purines.

My question is .. I love red meat , particulary game meats like venison, someone was telling me today that this could be causing me to develop gout. I don’t know if I have gout yet, but I do sometimes get swelling in my feet and particularly my big toe gets hot and hurts.

Gout Answers…
Your diet is definitely not helping you, even if you don’t have gout yet (and it does sound like you may have gout) eating red meat, game meat or just about anything else in excess is bad for you.

Eating red meat in excess means you run the risk of high blood pressure as well as gout. If you work at making your diet more gout friendly then you will also find that it is more heart friendly as well so you really can help yourself a lot just by cutting down on your red meat consumption and your alcohol intake.

As well as cutting down on meat you should be adding foods that are low in purines and even start drinking cherry juice as that will help remove the uric acid that is already in your system.

Every 3 or 4 months my left foot gets really swollen and painful. I’ve been to the doctor about it before and he did a uric acid level test. This is meant to help them find out if I have gout or not.

The test came back saying that my uric acid levels were high that means it’s possible that I do have gout, but there was nothing the Dr could do because it hadn’t flared up at the time I was there visiting him.

So if the Dr can’t tell me how do I know if I have gout, even if my foot doesn’t get warm and red, and my big toe doesn’t hurt?

I do get the pain and MAJOR swelling that most people say is a sign of gout. The pain and swelling extends right the way to my shin.

Exactly What Is Gout?

Many people ask that, part of the problem is that gout has long been thought of as a disease that only affects people who overindulge in rich food and to much alcohol. Henry the eighth (king of England) was one person who suffered with very painful gout, while his was most likely caused by to much drinking and eating to much game, this isn’t usually the case.

So what is gout, gout is when you have a build up of uric acid crystals in your joints. The uric acid crystals are knows as Tophi. Gout is similar to arthritis but in my experience gout is more of a stabbing agony rather than the dull throbbing pain that I experience with arthritis.

The build up of uric acid crystals happens over time and the pain of gout will come and go, however when you have a gout attack you will definitely know about it as the agony can be excruciating. Many gout attacks first start in the joints of your big toe, they also seem to happen at night. You will often wake in the middle of the night in excruciating agony in your big toe, sometimes it hurts just to have the bedsheet touch your toe.

The build up of uric acid in your system that causes gout will usually be caused by a mixture of genetic predisposition and diet, if you have gout in your family history then it is worth keeping a eye on your diet. Watching what you eat and drink may be enough to stop you experiencing the horrible pain that is gout.

“My knee hurts so bad!”—if you keep on hearing this comment from your husband then you better take gouty arthritis as one of the culprit. Gouty arthritis is not a new kind of bodily ailment, in fact it has bring curiosity to a lot of people starting during the time of Hippocrates.

Because of various scientific trials done, scientists were able to create the relationship of uric acid and gouty arthritis, how is this so? It has been proven that gout takes place because of the overabundance of uric acid within the body. But despite the agony that it can bring, uric acid is something that comes naturally within the human body. Generally, 1/3 of the total uric acid found on the body is sourced from foods particularly those that are rich in purines. The other percentage is created from the ordinary metabolism of the body.
The body would change purines into uric acid hence gouty arthritis will come into the scene. The level of the uric acid within the body is due to various factors such as fluid intake, diet, overall health and various other factors.
[nms:arthritis,3,minbid,minprice,5336166119]
Truly, uric acid and gouty arthritis are two interrelated factors that react with one another. With this, you can lessen the foods that may give high level of uric acid if you wish to say goodbye to gouty arthritis! It’s basically all about a change in lifestyle and diet. This little sacrifice can go a long way so you will not suffer from pain any longer.

Are you suffering from unbearable pain after eating certain kinds of foods? If this is so then you better allow a physician to check your body since you may be suffering from the disabling condition known as gouty arthritis. There are a lot of treatments these days that will help sufferer lessen the intensity of pain that they are feeling. On most cases, physicians would give acetaminophen. On the other hand, patient will be asked to get rid of aspirin based medication in order to stop the kidney from eliminating uric acid which is the main cause of gouty arthritis.

On the other hand, colchicine is a medication which can help ease gout attack. This alternative medicine is normally taken if the patient is suffering from issues on anti-inflammatory painkillers. Also, steroid tablets can be used as well particularly when the pain results from the use of other drugs.
[nms:gout pain,3,minbid,minprice,5336166119]

The rule of the thumb is, you need to consult first the help of a certified physician before popping up any pill in order to better assess the real condition of your body. Never ever experiments with any medication since there are some of them that could react negatively to your body hence you will find yourself later on to be experiencing a worst condition than what you have before. Your physician will also discuss some foods that you can avoid to stop gouty arthritis attacks, follow what she or he would tell you so you can say goodbye to pain permanently!
