How do i make him see he has to go to the doctors?

My Dad has gout, and it’s really disgusting, he’s had it for about a week and it’s died down, i’ve researched a little and it says to drink heaps of water and don’t take aspirin, but i don’t just want to rely on books, i want him to go see a doctor about it, btw it’s on his foot, he doesn’t drink so it couldn’t be about increased consumption of alcohol.
