One morning i stretched and my muscle in my toe and leg tightened ALOT, and my toe hurt all that week, now its back, im not sure what it is. Ive had a pain at the begining of big toeEspecially at where it connects to foot on side, but its gotten worse, then better(but not much) when i slept with it raised. Could it be gout. The skin where it hurts is pink, but i think its just bruising. Long periods of inactivity usedto hurt, now it doesnt hurt unless i stretch or touch it. Help please!

I have had gout for about 10 years and at first the attacks didn’t come along very often. It seems as I have had it longer the attacks are getting worse and I am having them more often.

At the moment I take cholrcine which did work up until recently, now it doesnt seem to help as much if at all.

I have heard so much about cherries being helpful that I eat them daily, now I am worried that because I eat them so often they stop working as pain relief for gout.

I always try and be careful in what I eat and I don’t drink beer as I have been told that can contribute to gout. Does your body just get used to all the gout treatments and the cherries and eventually they stop being so effective?

My soon to be husband has terrible pain in his foot and even up into his left ankle. The visits to Dr’s have not helped at all, he has tried pain killers but we don’t know if that is making it worse rather than better.

He never drinks any alcohol and doesn’t eat any game food but people keep saying it is probably gout, so if it is gout what can we do to try and reduce the level of pain he has.

We are ready to try just about anything, changes in diet and lifestyle are fine, the pain is so bad that we are ready to give just about anything a try.

icatfishman asked:

This is not a throbbing pain and it is not related to toe nail. The discomfort is in the joint where my right toe joins my foot. Sometime when I am lying down it will hurt like hell for 10 seconds or so but mostly, it bends about 70% of what is normal and seems to have a bit of swelling. The swelling increases from time to time. Primarily, the feeling is stiffness.

I have bad an MRI on the toe and they have determined I do not have gout. The MRI shows alot of blood flow around the joint so they know that something is not correct. It has been surmised that I have some arthritis in the joint.

That is fine and all but it is not solving the problem which is limited mobility in the toe which has been going on for a couple of years now. I do not recall injuring the joint. Any ideas?

Ideas about relieving the discomfort and increasing the mobility are both helpful. I am aware of this condition almost all of the time which really ticks me off.

Thanks

Having gout is bad enough, the pain from gout is something that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy but having no health insurance makes it even worse.

The costs to go see a Dr every time you get a swollen big toe joint and then add on the cost of any medication he may tell you to take and you are easily looking at a hundred dollars or more. While I can not tell you that I know some miracle home remedies or magic cure for gout that I know about but no one else does I can tell you a few things that you can and should be doing to help yourself.

Start doing things to prevent your next gout attack rather than waiting till you wake up in the middle of the night in excruciating pain and then wish you had taken more notice.

Before you start mixing up home remedies for gout you can start changing what you eat.

Cut Out Game Meat

Stop Eating Liver and Organ Meat

Drink More Water

Cut Down on Red Meat

Increasing your water intake will help your kidneys deal with the uric acid that you do take and since game, organs and red meat are all high in purines (which become uric acid) cutting those out of your diet will help your body deal with the uric acid that is one of the root causes of your gout.

Amongst the most effective ways to treat gout is also the most unpopular way, Diet!

Most people who develop gout are men who eat to much red meat, game meat or drink to much alcohol, admittedly that isn’t everyone but it is enough people to make it worth mentioning.

As a man I can tell you that one thing we hate is to be told we must stop doing something we like to do, whether that is eating huge steaks or having a beer with our dinner. Gout attacks have been linked to diet for hundreds of years and that isn’t going to change.

Treating gout is as simple as changing your diet, if you start to cut out the bad foods and add in some foods that will help lower your uric acid levels then you are treating your gout without taking any medication.

Gout treatments are available from your Dr but they are still medications and that means that you are putting more chemicals into your body and even the best medications have the potential for side effects.

As well as changing your diet you should look at any medications you are already taking and see if they are known to increase your uric acid levels, if so then before stopping taking them go and see your Dr with print outs of your research and discuss any alternatives that are available.

In most cases gout will normally, attack one joint only in the body but when it does it is often very sudden as well as being a very intense pain. In most cases, the most common part of the body that this ailment affects is the big toe (metatarsophalangeal). When it comes to gout treatment, there are certain things that the person suffering from this ailment are looking for it to do.
[nms:gout,3,minbid,minprice,5336166119]

Gout treatment needs to deal with not only the pain but the inflammation or swelling of the joints. There are many medical solutions that seem to treat either the pain or the inflammation, treating both while also keeping the user lucid and active is the ideal solution.

Today there are several different kinds of medications that are used for treating this condition but in many cases, alterations to a person’s dietary habits need to take place as well. Ideally a person suffering from gout is required to avoid a diet that contains foods which are rich in purine and they also need to increase the amounts of fluids they intake. By doing this, they are actually helping to reduce the risk of the gout becoming any worse and preventing further attacks in the future.
